Supported Independent Living Accommodation and Supports

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a form of support that NDIS participants can engage in to help them live independently within their own homes OR at a SIL accommodation facility. At Recruit, Connect & Care we provide both in-home supports and supports at our own SIL accommodations.

Who is SIL for?

SIL is for NDIS participants with higher support needs who require assistance in their homes. SIL services help with day-to-day tasks around the house, fostering independence, and providing support tailored to individual needs.

The number of people a participant lives with depends on their individual ratio of support needs. Some people live alone, while others may live with one or two other participants. The number of support workers also depends on a participant’s support needs; multiple support workers may be present at different times of the day.  At times, one support worker may be there to assist with all participants in the house, at another time, there may be two support workers in the house as one participant may have 1:1 care.

Services provided to participants with SIL capacity:

Receiving in-home SIL supports or living in a SIL house is a great opportunity for participants to engage consistently in capacity building supports such as independence with cooking meals, cleaning, grocery shopping, communication and social support.

Our Recruit, Connect & Care support workers understand that consistency and reliability are key when it comes to providing care. We have a 90% retention rate of our support workers which shows not only that we are a strong team but also that the support workers you meet initially will be there with you long term.
